Eurodesk UK Information and support for young people and youth organisations Works across 34 countries In the UK Eurodesk works with Partners and Ambassadors Eurodesk UK provides information to young people and the youth sector as well as support the Erasmus+ programme. However, as the Erasmus+ programme is mainly aimed at organisations, Eurodesk can fill the gap by addressing young people directly as well. Eurodesk was founded 26 years ago in Scotland and, seeing it was a good initiative, was taken over by the European Commission and now works across 34 countries. In the UK there is a national centre with Eurodesk officer Annelies Stalpaert, based within the Erasmus+ National Agency in Birmingham. In 2016 a Partner network was set up through a Call with 10 organisations from across the UK who support the delivery and promotion of Eurodesk services in the UK. In addition we are setting up a network of Ambassadors. Ambassadors are volunteers from across the youth sector throughout the UK. These individuals spread the word about Eurodesk UK and European mobility opportunities in their day-to-day work. If you would be interested in this opportunity please do get in touch.

Services European Youth Portal – Ask a Question
Social media – campaigns Time to Move – 1st October launch activities and get to know about opportunities to live, study, volunteer and work abroad Website – tailored information Now what do we do? First of all, Eurodesk UK provides the content behind the UK side of the European Youth Portal (EYP). We write and publish articles, news items and events about a range of topics relevant to young people: volunteering, working, learning, have your say, culture and creativity, health, social inclusion, think global and travelling. Eurodesk also manages the Ask a Question service on the EYP where young people can submit a question or ask for specific advice and we provide them with information or advice within 3 working days. We have a Twitter and Facebook account which we use to promote the content on the EYP as well as other information and opportunities that might be of interest to young people and the youth sector. More recently we have been doing that in the form of 2-week long campaigns. In August we worked around the topic of Work, for example things related to finding a job, starting your own business or learning and working. In September we are working around the topic of ‘Health’ with a focus on physical health, mental health as well as sport & fitness as this coincides with the European Week of Sport. Our website got a new look in August and we did this to tailor it more to the needs of young people and the youth sector. On the website you can find funding and training opportunities and competitions, news and events and different types of resources that might be of interest to you. In addition we have created 4 big sections: 1 specifically aimed at young people and one specifically for youth organisations. Then there is also a section for young people going abroad and one for young people coming to the UK. We have a quarterly newsletter – the next one should go out around the end of October/beginning of November so I warmly invite you all to subscribe to that one. Last but not least, we also organise and attend events. Sometimes this is the Eurodesk team itself, sometimes this will be done by the Eurodesk UK Partners. If you want to know what events are coming up please do have a look at our website or on the European Youth Portal.
