2 Building Christian Character
Knowledge

3 Building Christian Character
Knowledge Romans 10:1-3 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteous- ness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. NKJV

4 Building Christian Character
Knowledge 1 Timothy 2:4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 6:20 O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babble and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge.

5 Building Christian Character
Knowledge Knowledge Commanded Commanded by Peter. 2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ...

6 Building Christian Character
Knowledge Knowledge Commanded Commanded by Peter. Commanded by the apostle Paul. Romans 16:19 For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil.

7 1 Corinthians 14:20 Brethren, do not be children in understanding; however, in malice be babes, but in understanding be mature. Hebrews 5:12-14 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. NKJV

8 Building Christian Character
Knowledge Things We Need to Know The will of God. Matthew 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Ephesians 5:17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

9 Romans 6:17-18 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. Colossians 1:9-10 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may have a walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

10 Building Christian Character
Knowledge Things We Need to Know The will of God. We need to know the love of Christ.

11 Ephesians 3:17-19 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

12 Building Christian Character
Knowledge Things We Need to Know The will of God. We need to know the love of Christ. We need to know the hope of God’s calling.

13 Ephesians1:18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, Hebrews 6:19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, NKJV Ephesians 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.

14 Building Christian Character
Knowledge Things We Need to Know The will of God. We need to know the love of Christ. We need to know the hope of God’s calling. We need to know the greatness of His power. Ephesians 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

15 Why Do We Need To Know These Things?
Building Christian Character Knowledge Why Do We Need To Know These Things? Ignorance alienates us from God. Ephesians 4:18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart.

16 Why Do We Need To Know These Things?
Building Christian Character Knowledge Why Do We Need To Know These Things? Ignorance alienates us from God. All are commanded to repent. Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men every where to repent.

17 Why Do We Need To Know These Things?
Building Christian Character Knowledge Why Do We Need To Know These Things? Ignorance alienates us from God. All are commanded to repent. Paul prayed that ignorant people would be saved. 18 Why Do We Need To Know These Things?
Building Christian Character Knowledge Why Do We Need To Know These Things? Ignorance alienates us from God. All are commanded to repent. Paul prayed that ignorant people would be saved. We escape the world through knowledge.

19 2 Peter 2:20-22 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.” NKJV

20 The Source of our Knowledge
Building Christian Character Knowledge The Source of our Knowledge The treasures of wisdom and knowledge are in Christ.

21 Colossians 2:1-3 For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. NKJV

22 The Source of our Knowledge
Building Christian Character Knowledge The Source of our Knowledge The treasures of wisdom and knowledge are in Christ. These treasures of wisdom are only obtained through study.
