2. General Background of Russia
As of 2010, it had about 141,750,000 people.
Russia is located in Eurasia which is Europe and Asia.
It is the largest geographical country in the world.
Russia mainly speaks Russian with a Cryllic Alphabet.

3. Well Known Landmarks
St. Basil’s Cathedral: A Russian Orthodox Church completed in It doesn’t follow Russian architecture. It is also called the Pokrovsky Cathedral.
Kremlin in Moscow: Kremlin in Russian means fortress. When rebuilt, the Kremlin was used as a palace for the Tsars. During the time of the U.S.S.R. the Kremlin was used as a government center.

4. Russian Geography Russia spans over 11 time zones.
Russia's climate can vary greatly.
There are grassy plains in the south and tundra in the north.
There are also forests in Russia.
Russia is 6,592,800 square miles.

About 10% of government money comes from the sale of vodka in Russia.
Moscow is less distance to Chicago than Chicago is to Rio de Janeiro.
Russia takes up about 1/7 of the total land on Earth.

6. Russian Food
Borscht- This is a Russian Beet Soup and it is very common. Beetroot is the main ingredient. Different types of this can be served hot or cold.
Beef Stroganoff- This is a dish with pieces of beef commonly served over noodles. Often a sour cream based sauce is served on top. This is a globally popular dish and many countries have made cultural changes.
Sharlotka- This is a Russian type of apple cake in which few ingredients are needed. When put on top, the apples could be arranged in a pattern usually a flower.

7. Chernobyl
The disaster at Chernobyl happened when a nuclear reactor leaked radiation. This resulted in over 6,000 deaths and possibly as many as one million. 19 miles around the city, is land that will be uninhabitable for the next 20,000 years.

8. Siberia
Northern Siberia is almost all iceland. At the coldest point of the year, it can drop to as low as -90 degrees F.
In the south, summer high temperatures usually only reach in the mid-60's.
Siberia takes up roughly 77% of all the land in Russia.
This is about 10% of all the land on Earth.
It is also home to the Siberian Tiger and Siberian Husky.
