Individual Career and Academic Plan
During the 2009 Colorado Legislative Session, Senate Bill was enacted into law with a requirement that by September, 2011, all students’ grades 9-12 would have access to a system within their high school to create and manage an ICAP.
2
What is I.C.A.P.? ICAP is a multi-year process that intentionally guides students and families in the exploration of career, academic and postsecondary opportunities. With the support of adults, students develop the awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and skills to create their own meaningful and powerful pathways to be career and college ready. Begins in 9th grade as an annual process but schools and districts can voluntarily begin in 6th grade. Is engrained in the PWR-going culture of school. Emphasize that this isn’t a counselor initiative but a district and school initiative.

What is included in an I.C.A.P.?
