1 Reflection “Christ has no body on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. 3 “Paying unjust salaries, that are not enough to live on, is stealing”.
These quotes come from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. “Paying unjust salaries, that are not enough to live on, is stealing”. “An approach to business that makes profit the only motive, is immoral” “A business that turns people into things to be bought and sold, is immoral”. Support the statement using Bible/Jesus.

4 Fair Trade: fighting economic injustice
Exploitation: to use another person for your benefit, at the expense of that person (Economic - for a financial profit) Some people say business and religion should not mix. Business is just about making money. Others say that good business means being fair to others in the way you make money. So Christians try and Stay informed about companies that produce goods unethically - boycott/ campaign against them e.g. sweat shops making clothes or trainers in Asia where employees are working 12 hour shifts for very little money. E.g. Apple was charging its’ employees in Asia a “binding fee” before they could get work there, and which they had to repay. Now stopped. Buy products which have a certificate showing that they are made under good working conditions e.g. Fair trade logo Campaign: put pressure on the governments in the West to pay and guarantee good prices to producers in poorer countries, who have no other means of earning a living “Trade Justice”. Explain what “economic exploitation” means. Give examples. How do Christians try to stop economic exploitation? 3 ways. **Do you think it is important to do business fairly, even if it means less profits? Why? * recognize the Fair trade logo
