Family life: I found it really hard to get details on John Marsden , it does not say if he is married or has children. I wonder if he wants to keep this part of his life private since his other life as a writer is broadcast all over the world ?

4 Fact’s on John Marsden John Marsden’s great great great uncle Rev Samuel Marsden was a tough cookie. In the early days of white Australia he served as the hanging parson. He was known by this name because he was the one who sentenced people to death by hanging on Friday, gave them communion at church on Sunday then supervised their execution on Monday !!!

5 John Marsden lives on an 850-acre property just outside Melbourne, Australia, where he runs writing camps and writing courses. He tours the world giving talks and holding workshops. He's now published thirty books, and his world-wide sales total 21/2 million.

7 Education When he, was 10 years old John Marsden moved to Sydney and attended the Kings school Parramatta. Following his time there, Marsden was accepted into Sydney University to study a double degree in Law and Arts and attended university despite being confused about what he wanted to do. John Marsden struggled during his time there, and due to a sense of loneliness from family rifts, educational experiences, and simply disliking law, he dropped out. After leaving university, John became depressed and adding to his depression was the fact that he couldn’t find a job that suited him. As his depression engulfed him he went into suicidal thoughts , where he began seeing a psychiatrist. He eventually got admitted to a psychiatric hospital. To this day John say’s that his experience in hospital is a very important part of his life.
