NOTES Slide 2: Refer sts to the pictures and have them describe it in pairs. Elicit a few contributions. Explain what “first time encounters” mean and have them go on with the discussion. Elicit a few contributions at the end. Slide 3: Refer sts to the quote and have them discuss in groups of 3-4 how much they agree with it and why. Elicit a few contributions at the end. Slide 8-13: Tell sts they will practice SMALL TALK. Tell pairs they will have only 1 MINUTE to answer the questions as if they were two talking for the first time ever.
