Set changes in science are to accommodate students who have opted to do extra science in option time. A drop in set number does not necessarily mean that a student is performing badly compared to last year – the “higher” set numbers are used for the triple classes and then the “lower” numbers for combined science and this year more students than in previous years have opted for triple science. Triple Science Students will achieve 3 separate GCSE grades in biology, chemistry and physics. We follow the AQA specification. Students will sit six 105 minute exams at the end of year 11, 2 in each of biology, chemistry and physics. Each exam is worth ½ of the GCSE. The Outwood Grange Family of Schools

Set 1 Each week: 2 hours of biology 2 hours of chemistry 2 hours of physics The Outwood Grange Family of Schools

Sets 2 and 3 Each week: 2 hours of biology 2 hours of chemistry 2 hours of physics Some students will have 3 extra hours of consolidation (option science). The Outwood Grange Family of Schools

Set 4 Each week: 2 hours of biology 2 hours of chemistry 2 hours of physics Some students will have extra science in VMG time. The Outwood Grange Family of Schools

Combined Science The Outwood Grange Family of Schools

Combined Science Students will achieve 2 GCSE grades in combined science. These will be the same grade or within one grade of each other. We follow the AQA Trilogy specification. Students will sit six 75 minute exams at the end of year 11, 2 in each of biology, chemistry and physics. Each exam is worth 1/6 of the 2 GCSEs. The Outwood Grange Family of Schools

Sets 6 and 7 Each week: 6 hours of science which will cover biology, chemistry and physics topics. The Outwood Grange Family of Schools
