TCLT Learning Technologies TCLT has been founded on the premise that emerging technologies have the potential to dramatically improve learning. The purpose of TCLT is to contribute to the field of Learning Technology and to serve the needs of professionals working in this field. TCLT - Main Aims: Provide a forum for fostering the exchange of ideas among interested researchers, practitioners, developers, policy makers, business actors, as well as academics and students in the Learning Technology field. Promote and facilitate the sharing of ideas, techniques, standards and experiences between TCLT members for more effective use and deployment of Learning Technology. Conduct workshops, conferences and other meetings to advance both the state-of-the-art and the state-of-the-practice of Learning Technology. May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 2

TCLT - Main Aims: Publish and distribute among its members and other IEEE-CS parties, newsletters, conference proceedings, standards proposals, and other appropriate material on a non-profit basis. Provide professional development opportunities for members in Learning Technology and related fields. Foster other activities for the advancement of the Learning Technology field and the interests of the TCLT members, including cooperating with other groups in joint activities and projects. TCLT – Conferences: ICALT th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies, Sousse, Tunisia, 5-7 July 2010 (~300 participants) DIGITEL rd IEEE International Conference on Digital Game and Intelligent Toy Enhanced Learning, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, April 2010 (~75 participants) WMUTE th IEEE International Conference on Wireless, Mobile and Ubiquitous Technologies in Education, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, April 2010 (~75 participants) TCLT Executive Committee Members participate in the steering committees of the sponsored conferences. More specifically, at least one of the TC Chair, TC Vice-chair and TC Past Chair participates as either General Chair or PC Chair of the sponsored conferences. May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 4

TCLT – Publications: The Learning Technology Newsletter (published every three months), which serves as a channel to keep everyone aware of latest R&D in the area and it is disseminated via TCLT Web-Site and TCLT discussion list TCLT also supports IEEE Transactions on Learning Technologies, which is being published the past three years (started in 2008). Prof. Demetrios G. Sampson (TCLT Chair) is an Associate Editor of this journal. May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 5

Sponsored and organized 3 international conferences in the areas of (a) advanced learning technologies, (b) mobile and ubiquitous technologies in education and (c) digital game and intelligent toy enhanced learning, attracting about 450 researchers and academics from worldwide. TCLT – Plans (2011): During 2011, IEEE TCLT will sponsor the following conferences: ICALT th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies, Athens, Georgia, USA, 6-8 July 2011 T4E IEEE International Conference on Technology for Education, Chennai, India, July 2011 TCLT Executive Committee Members will be heavily involved in the organization of these conferences. TCLT – Plans (2011): The TCLT executive committee will organize a TC meeting during the flagship ICALT 2011 Conference in Athens, Georgia, USA (5-7 July 2011). Prof. Michael Spector will be presented a certificate of appreciation for his efforts towards organization of the 11th International Conference in Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT 2011) that will be held in Athens, Georgia, USA, 6-8 July 2011. Both TCLT Newsletter Editors will be presented a certificate of appreciation for their volunteer work in the last two years. May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 9

TCLT – Plans: Further themed issues are planned for the Learning Technology newsletter: Semantic Web Technologies for Technology-enhanced Learning Advanced Learning Technologies for Disabled and Non-Disabled People Communication: There are plans for exploiting social networking applications such as Twitter and Facebook.
