Presentation on theme: "Year 6 have been doing a project on boat making!"— Presentation transcript:

1 Year 6 have been doing a project on boat making!

2 Designing We designed our boats on a sheet and wrote down what we needed. Over the couple of days we gathered ,from home, our materials we needed and Mrs Clark bought straws and bags and more things that you always have to have on your boat to make it sail.

3 Building We built our boats and put all of our equipment together. Some people worked in groups but some didn’t, I put all of my things into my boat but I also shared some of my equipment with other people. The building was the best part of the boat making!

4 The Things I Used To Build My Boat
2 lemonade bottles, tin foil tape, duc tape, string, card, straw, tub.

5 Testing The last part of the project was to see if our boats actually floated and held weight too. We went outside with a pool and we all tested our brilliant boats. I tested my boat to float and it did, it also held the most weight, 2850g. I was so proud of myself it was by far the best topic I have done in science and the most successful.

6 What I learnt I learnt from this experiment that the bigger the surface area the more upthrust can push up and your boat will float. Also, if it has a low density (light for its size) it will succeed because it will be light and will not sink.

7 End of topic By Lydia Marsden 
