1 Doing Good Titus 3:1-8

2 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
It is good to submit and show respect to those in authority. Even if you don’t agree with them. I Timothy 2:1-4, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

3 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
It is good to submit and show respect to those in authority. We are commanded by God. We are to maintain an atmosphere of evangelism Their souls matter to God also.

4 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
But, not if the government insists that you go against the commands of God. Then our obedience to God supersedes our obedience to man’s authority. Daniel in Babylon Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego in Bayblon The Apostles while they were imprisoned

5 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
It is good to have a merciful and respectful attitude. Titus 3:1b-2, “to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.”

6 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
It is good to have a merciful and respectful attitude. We need to be ready to do whatever is good. We must look for opportunities. The government a Christian lives under will never be perfect, but we can get behind the programs that bring good to the community.

7 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
It is good to have a merciful and respectful attitude. We must not slander anyone. Even political servants, no matter how much we disagree with them. “Indeed, the Christian will find it difficult to pray for any government official while at the same time he is speaking with contempt about that same official.” Gareth Reese

8 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
It is good to have a merciful and respectful attitude. We can correctly judge sin, and evil that we see in people without slandering them. We need to be people of not good, but great manners! A quarrelsome attitude makes a poor witness for Christ.

9 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
To have a merciful and respectful attitude toward all people we must remember that our regeneration and renewal which began at our washing didn’t happen overnight. Titus 3:3, “At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.” But, then we were changed. Look at verses 4-7

10 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
Regeneration—comes from a compound word in the Greek meaning birth again; in other words born again. John 3:3, 5 “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” 5 “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.” I Peter 1:23, “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” Our washing is at baptism.

11 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
Renewal—comes from a compound word in the Greek meaning to make new, to change, to alter again. Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Regeneration is immediate. Renewal takes time as we are guided by the Holy Spirit, if we allow, in changing our thinking and perspective about everything in our lives.

12 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
When we look at what goes on in people’s lives around us we need to remember what we were like before we became Christians. We need to worry more about showing kindness to the person than hating the sin or indiscretion in their lives.

13 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
We have been changed. Regenerated and Renewed! As Christians we should become… More understanding of people’s circumstances More motivated by God’s grace More forgiving More helpful

14 Doing good is always the right thing to do!
We must have our lives in order so that we are ready to do any good work. Have you been washed?
