Flour baby project: 10 points
Each of you will be a single parent The baby will be 1 month when you get them and grow a month every day You will be responsible for taking care of your baby at all times: Find a babysitter!

What is turned in: JOURNAL:
Each day you will describe what you and your baby did and how you took care of them Example: Today my baby is 3 months old and it was the first day she/he… ***You MUST incorporate the milestones of baby’s first year: Whether your baby did it or not

Birth Certificate Must include: Birth date and time Hospital
Parents name Weight Height Baby’s name MUST BE TYPED

How you lose points YOUR BABY CAN NEVER BE ALONE!!!
**If I see you without the baby and with no babysitter you lose 5 points includes pictures **If you don’t bring it to class you lose credit ***If your egg breaks you lose a lot of credit

NEXT Friday!!! BRING BABY TOMORROW!!!
You must turn in all together!!!: Journal of last weeks activities/feelings and caring techniques (each day must include what the baby did and explain the stages the baby is in) Flour baby: check on the egg! Birth Certificate (with name of baby, name of parents, birth place, weight, length…) BRING BABY TOMORROW!!!

Prenatal to Newborns Prenatal (in the belly)
First trimester: 1-3 months, size of a fist, has major organs of the body Second trimester:3-6: starts to move, gender is visible, end of 6th fully formed but 14 in. Third Trimester: baby puts on weight (6-9lbs) lungs have matured

Newborns Born to perceive: Babies are born with all their senses:
Sight: can see 8-14 inches away (parents face) cross eyed because of weak eye muscles Hearing: started in the womb…hear their parents voice (soothing tones calm infants) Taste/smell: sweets Touch: babies like to be wrapped tight Survival Instincts: Gag reflex: throwing up (ate to much) Sucking reflex: to eat

When people see babies it has been proven to raise their heart rates and dilate their eyes
Emotional BOND: Attachment: an emotional bond between infants and another Babies turn to this person when in distress (not wanting to leave) If no attachments babies are more insecure about life and cannot deal with stress in everyday life.
