Restraint Data Web Application User Guide

Step 1 From the ESE homepage: a) Click on “Login.”

d) Log in to the Security Portal.

Step 2 a) Click on “Application List.”

b) Click “Restraint Data” which can be found under the Data Collection Office (You are not going to the DropBox). If you do not see “Restraint Data” as an option you will need to contact your Agency or District Directory Administrator and have that person grant you permission to the “Restraint Data” application. Everyone who had access to the “Restraint Data DropBox” has been given access to the new application.

Step 3 Select your organization and click “next.”

Step 4 Click “Add New Student Restraint.”

Step 5 Enter the SASID for the student who was restrained and click “lookup.”

Step 6 Enter the restraint information
Step 6 Enter the restraint information. Please note that only fields marked with a red asterisk* are required fields for ESE submission.

Step 7 a) Once the information is entered, the restraint record can be printed, or if the user is using Google Chrome it can be saved as a PDF. To print, click “Print” and proceed as you usually would when printing. If using Chrome, to save as a PDF click print and go to Step 7b.

b) To save as a PDF in Chrome, click “change” when the following box opens.

c) To save as a PDF, click “Save as PDF.”

Step 8 Once you are done printing/saving click “Add Student Restraint
Once the restraint record is added it is saved to the ESE database. There is no longer a need to upload data at the end of the year because it will be submitted to ESE on a real-time basis when entered and saved. Restraint data can be edited or deleted until the data is certified by the district at the end of the school year. To certify the data and complete the submission process, the box at the bottom of the district’s data collection page must be checked.

Step 9 To export restraint records to Excel, click “Export to Excel.”

Step 10 a) After entering all data for the school year, the box at the bottom of your district’s data collection page must be checked to certify and complete the submission process b) After checking the box, press “submit” and you will see the response below to know that your submission was successfully completed.
