3 What is Human Computer Interaction and Platform
“Human-computer interaction is a discipline concerned with the design, evaluation and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use and with the study of major phenomena surrounding them” A computing platform includes a hardware architecture and a software framework (including application frameworks), where the combination allows software, particularly application software, to run. Typical platforms include a computer architecture, operating system, programming languages and related user interface (run-time system libraries or graphical user interface). Talk about different requirements for real-time vs. Non-real-time Time, quality CIIT----- Human Computer Interaction

4 CIIT----- Human Computer Interaction
Goals The main goal of HCI is Usability which is a measure of the effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction of the user to achieve specified goals in a particular environment. A usable System is: Easy to Learn Easy to Remember how to Use Effective to Use Efficient to Use Safe to Use Enjoyable To Use CIIT----- Human Computer Interaction

5 Components of the human processor model
Human processor model consists of three interacting systems. Each has its own memory and processor. Perceptual processor Outputs into audio storage Outputs into visual storage Cognitive processor Outputs into working memory. Has access to Long term memory Motor processor CIIT----- Human Computer Interaction

6 Human Senses and Computer
A human and a computer communicates. A human usually has 5 senses: Sight, Hearing, Touch, Taste, Smell, A computer hasn’t any senses as such, it is machinery, with electrons running around in and out of component devices. CIIT----- Human Computer Interaction

7 Computer match with senses
A good interface match would include as many senses as possible. Computer input and output is basically seeing what we enter and what is displayed. Sound can be added to some programs, either by giving instructions by voice, or listening to a commentary / music. Touch can be in the form of using the mouse, a joystick, or a drawing tablet. 8 CIIT----- Human Computer Interaction
What is an Interface? A point where the human can tell the computer what to do. A point where the computer displays the requested information. CIIT----- Human Computer Interaction

9 CIIT----- Human Computer Interaction
What Tools are Used? A keyboard, for typing, A mouse, for pointing , A scanner, for copying, A camera, for images. A monitor, for displaying, A printer, for printing, A sound card. For audio, A DVD, for video. CIIT----- Human Computer Interaction

10 CIIT----- Human Computer Interaction
Virtual Reality Virtual Reality is a computer interface. Programs combine the interfaces already mentioned to give a simulated three dimensional world of sight, sound, touch and movement. Interaction may be made through special equipment such as: glasses, gloves, sound systems, and the regular computer devices . As these types of interfaces develop and become more advanced (realistic) through high level programming, so the human use will become more common and so it will seem to be similar to communication with other humans.
