How is hunger games connected to Latin ?
Many characters names from the book are connected to latin words, even leaders who were famous back in the days of Rome. Here is some of the cast from the movie hunger games, some who represent the characters that we will be connecting from the book by Suzanne Collins.

Characters Caesar Flickerman : The host of the hunger games.
Rue : Encountered Katniss during the game. Claudius Templesmith: The hunger games announcer. Effie Trinket: Katniss’ stylist. She always has on weird, complex clothes like most of the audience that was watching the hunger games. Katniss Everdeen Katniss Everdeen's father told her (flashback) :
“as long as you find yourself, you’ll never starve.” Plant : nourishing roots, known as “arrow head”. Belongs to Genus Sagittaria

Peeta Mellark Comes from a family of bread bakers :
his name is respelled for “PITA”. Also comes from Panem (panem = bread : in latin).

Caesar Flickerman Caesar Flickerman : represents the power of Panem (capitol). Julius Caesar : represents the power of Ancient Rome.

Rue Also a plant based name.
Rue is known for Herb of Grace, used for medical properties (she helps katniss). Rue is german for raute or latin for ruta meaning the “preserver”. But Rue is also known for as “regret” or “pity”.

Claudius Templesmith Claudius Templesmith, the game announcer, shares the name with Roman emperor Claudius. Latin for claudus = lame.

Effie Trinket Effie is short for the greek name Euphemia (well spoken), which matches her character. But it also means “well dressed” which we can also agree to from how Effie Trinket dresses in the movie the hunger games.
