CREW/QUORUM LEADERSHIP AND PLANNING CONFERENCE
Develop a 12 month general calendar and a detailed 6 month calendar. This is a must! The 6 month calendar should include week day activities and meetings, and weekend outings. Share a copy of the 6 month calendar with the crew committee, the sponsoring unit, parents (use this as a focus during your parent’s night), and each crew member. Develop a leadership and planning conference packet: agendas for all meetings the youth conduct, all meetings they should attend, leadership responsibilities of each office, leadership principles, activity calendar (to be updated regularly). Duplicate this packet and place in a folder for each young man leader. Keep a master copy for your files to be used each time you have a change in leadership and another conference is held. Collect the folders for reuse.

Youth Training Nature of Leadership—The venturing Leadership Skills Course used to teach leadership skills to all Venturers in the crew. It has nine leadership modules that begin with an activity and follow with a reflection. VENTURING PURPOSE is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. PRIESTHOOD PURPOSE ACTIVITIES

What a Venturing crew does is limited only by the imagination and involvement of the adult and youth leaders and members of the crew—50 mile hike on Boulder Mtn., missionary manners, religious recipes, story telling skills, career nights, running, missionary meals, spiritual development, speech giving, service projects, preparing and using a budget, the national anthem, learning and playing and officiating various sports, etiquette, crayfish catching and cooking, egg shoots, jerky recipes, shooting and cleaning and preparing and cooking game, waffle party, caramel corn crazy, eggs and omelets, personal journals, produce a play, climb a mountain, teach disables people to swim, or attend the Olympis. All these adventure and many more are being done today by Venturing crews across the country. All that is needed are concerned adults who are willing to share a little bit of themselves with today’s youth—tomorrow’s leaders. All our young men are already doing Venturing because they are into sports, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, hiking, computers, etc.-

Priests Quorum/Venturing Crew
Defining Success in a Priests Quorum/Venturing Crew • Young men have completed the activity interest survey. • Adults in the ward have completed the Program Capability Inventory. • Quorum/Crew has a “draft” annual calendar and a working three month calendar which includes activities chosen by the young men and utilizes consultants from the ward. • Mutual night activities are lead by youth activity chairs. • Young men have opportunities to teach others. • The Venturing Leadership Skills Course has been conducted by the youth. • The Quorum/Crew presidency has defined duties and meets as needed to plan and administer the program. Boys lead with adult shadow leaders. As a result of implementing these Venturing resources we have noticed the following: • Mutual night attendance has increased. • Attendance at Quorum meeting on Sunday has increased. • Quorum unity has improved. • Young men feel empowered and take more ownership in the quorum/crew.
