3 OLYMPIC KREISEL Recipient of the Outstanding Award and money prize in the International Sculpture Competition by the City of Beijing (selected from 2700 submissions from over 40 Countries).    Outdoor, large Light & Optical  Sculpture suitable for Traffic Islands. General Design: Three times 72 steel cables are suspended from 3 different rings from the central light mast, descending at different angles to their circular fixation on the ground. Due to the different suspension points and the different angles, eye-catching Moire Patterns emerge and keep changing subtly move around the circular traffic island. (The pattern is subtle and the lights change very slowly in order not to distract the drivers) There are computerized LED colour lights which change the appearance of the steel cable structure slowly, so it always looks different. The cables can easily be detached for maintenance of the LED and Traffic Lamps. They are fixed with a pre-engineered breakpoint, in case a car hits the cables (which then act to absorb the impact).

5 The 2008 Olympic Landscape Sculpture Contest Exhibition Inspired by the immortal sculptures of ancient Athens, the Beijing Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (BOCOG) organised an international competition in Artists from around the world were invited to submit their sculpture designs, depicting some aspect of the Olympic Games or the Olympic Movement. More than 2000 entries from 90 countries were received.

41 You are now going to create a stable structure / sculpture based on the Olympic games. Will it be: Large or small? Hard or soft? Realistic or imaginative? Of the human form or something else? What will it be for? Where will it be for? Who will it be for?

42 Remember! The structure MUST stand up
