VCE VET Certificate II in Applied Fashion Design and Technology

Course Description: The VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and Technology program aims to: provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and competency that will enhance their employment prospects in the fashion, textile and clothing related industries enable participants to gain a recognised credential and to make an informed choice of vocation or career path within the fashion industry. to provide the opportunity to acquire and develop skills in sewing, design processes, working with patterns and applying quality standards.

Structure The VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and Technology program comprises of the Certificate II with VCE credit at Units 1 to 4 level. Certificate II is completed over two years. MST20616 Certificate II in Applied Fashion Design and Technology Certificate II comprises 13 units of competency: four compulsory units and nine elective units

These identified units of competency in the VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and Technology program have been selected for recognition purposes CORE MSMENV272 Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices MSMWHS200 Work safely MSS Apply quality standards MSTCL2011 Draw and interpret a basic sketch ELECTIVES MSTCL2010 Modify patterns to create basic styles MSTFD2001 Design and produce a simple garment MSTFD2005 Identify design process for fashion designs MSTFD2006 Use a sewing machine for fashion design MSTCL1001 Produce a simple garment MSTGN2003 Work in the TCF industry MSTGN2011 Identify fibres, fabrics and textiles used in the TCF industry MSTTX1001 Produce a simple textile fabric or product MSTCL3007 Embellish garment by hand or machine MSTFD3003 Prepare design concept for a simple garment

Credit in the VCE or VCAL
MST20616 Certificate II in Applied Fashion Design and Technology:: recognition of four units at Units 1 and 2 level, and a Units 3 and 4 sequence. Note: The Units 3 and 4 sequence of VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and Technology is not designed as a stand-alone study. Students first complete Units 1 and 2before proceeding to Units 3 and 4 ________________________________________ ATAR Contribution Students who receive a Units 3 and 4 sequence for VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and Technology will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the average of the primary four scaled studies). The increment is awarded by the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC).
