Journal Entry How many computers are in the room?
Count them up in your journal With your elbow partner – share your responses. 10 minutes

Exploring Computers At your tables, discuss additional examples of computers or things containing computers. These don’t necessarily need to be in the room. Write examples on post-its. You need at least 10 things. Also write down at least 5 items you know are definitely not a computer 60 minutes – Write post-its to end day

Exploring Computers Categorize your answers into:
Definitely a computer Sort of a computer Not a Computer Put your post-its on the board in the proper category 15 minutes

Exploring Computers As a team… Look at the board. Find 1 item that you think should be in a different category and move it. Explain to the class why you think that item should be moved. 15 minutes

Homework Your homework is to interview a family member or friend to find out what features that person would like to have if buying a new personal computer. Ideas of things to ask: What will you use the computer for? Where are going to use it? Does it have to be mobile? Is there limited desk space? How much can you afford? Anything special you want in the computer? Keep this in journal. You will need it next week! Do example What will the computer be used for? What are the space constraints? What is the price range?
