If first person is someone telling you his or her story, and second person is you being told how you should do something, then third person is more like a camera recording events. That's not to say it's necessarily an objective point of view. A third person narrator can be highly subjective. Omniscient narrator This is a common form of third-person narration in which the teller of the tale, who often appears to speak with the voice of the author himself, assumes an omniscient (all-knowing) perspective on the story being told: diving into private thoughts, narrating secret or hidden events Chronological Following events in the order in which they occurred. Zooming Beginning with something small and zooming out to something bigger. Or zooming in from something big to something much smaller. Narrowing Changing the focus from something broad to something more focused. Broadening Changing the focus from something focused to something broad. Shifts This could be shifts in time, between characters, points of view or places. Red Amber Green
