2. Broadway
Broadway theatre, commonly known as Broadway, refers to the theatrical performances presented in the 40 professional theatres. Along with London's West End theatres, Broadway theatres are widely considered to represent the highest level of commercial theatre in the English-speaking world.
After the great depression Broadway hit a golden age of blockbuster hits, Oklahoma!, in 1941 but in the 1960s and 1970s saw a worsening of the area like Times Square and numbers began to drop of legitimate shows produced on Broadway

Most theatre productions made around the 1960s had a political message around it like Cabaret, Sound of Music, West side story, Oliver, Fiddler on the roof and etc.… which did change the way of how a few Americans did think
An Off-Broadway theatre is a professional venue in New York City with a seating capacity between 100 and 499. These theatres are smaller than Broadway theatres.
An "Off-Broadway production" is a production of a play, musical or revue.

3. Cabaret
The play was put on Broadway in The play was based on John Van Druten's 1951 play I Am a Camera, which was adapted from the short novel Goodbye to Berlin
The play was about 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, it is based in nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub, and revolves around the 19-year-old English cabaret performer Sally Bowles and her relationship with the young American writer Cliff Bradshaw.
The play showed how Germany was like when Nazis were rising to power. It shows you how the war is still having an impact on Americans in 60s because they were loads of plays that were also made around the was like Fiddler on the roof and Oliver Twist. The production became a hit, inspiring many following productions in London and New York,

4. Oliver!
Oliver Twist is sold to a Dunstable undertaker after asking for more dinner at the orphanage. Escaping to London he is taken in by Fagin to join his gang of child pickpockets. Wrongly accused of a theft he meets a more kindly gentleman who takes him in, to the concern of one of Fagin's old pupils, the violent Bill Sykes. In the middle is Nancy, Sykes' girl whom Oliver has come to trust.
Oliver! is an English musical, with music and lyrics by Lionel Bart. The musical is based upon the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, set in the 1830s.
It premiered in the West End in 1960, enjoying a long run, and successful long runs on Broadway, tours and revivals, after being brought to the US by producer David Merrick in It was made into a musical film in 1968

This showed that the British were having an impact on America at the time, it was one of the first British musicals to be shown on Broadway at the time. This showed that the British invasion was changing America slowly

5. Fiddler on the Roof
Fiddler on the Roof," a musical about a small Russian Jewish village, opens and is a huge hit. Came on Broadway in 1964
Had the first musical theatre run in history to beat 3,000 performances. Fiddler held the record for the longest-running Broadway musical for almost 10 years until Grease beat its run.
It remains Broadway's sixteenth longest-running show in history. The production was very profitable and highly praised. It won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, score, book, direction and choreography.

It produced five Broadway revivals and a highly successful 1971 film adaptation, and the show has enjoyed enduring international popularity. It is also a very popular choice for school and community productions

6. How does this help me
Looking at loads of different posters and researching about different plays, This helps me with my production role and how I can improve my posters better. Looking at different posters you can see that they all use really abstract colours or odd colours like in the Oliver! poster and Fiddler on the Roof, They also did fit a lot of information about like the actor, the music, venue and etc.… it helps me with the type of information I should put on the posters but it also shows me how time has changed and how styles for poster are much different to what they where in the 1960s like Fiddler on the roof, Sweet Charity and etc..
