Stair run has changed
Minimum run for private stairs was 210 mm ( 8 ¼ inches) in 2010 NBC, now changed to 255 mm (10 inches) in 2015 NBC.

Note: The increased minimum run of the stairs will affect the size of the stairwell opening required to maintain the minimum headroom requirement of 6’4 ¾ “.
As well, a 2 x 12 may be required for a stair stringer as it is necessary to maintain a minimum 3 ½ inch uncut portion of the stringer.

9.11- Sound Transmission
Section 9.11 has been rewritten
New Terminology
Apparent Sound Transmission Class (ASTC) mean a single number rating of the airborne sound attenuation of building assemblies separating two adjoining spaces taking into account both the direct and flanking sound transmission paths.
STC by definition considers only the direct sound transmission paths.
