13. 4 Action Plan Goals
Reduce the number of fatalities among drivers age 65 and older from 229 in to 220 in 2020.
Reduce the number of fatalities among pedestrians age 65 and older from 13 in 2016 to 12 in 2020.

14. 4 Action Plan Goals
Reduce the number of fatalities among bicyclists age 65 and older from 5 in 2016 to 4 in 2020.
Increase the number of Ohioan’s age 65 and older who have access to alternative transportation options.

15. Education
Objective — Ensure older road users, family members, caregivers and others who interact with the older population are educated on the safety and mobility needs of this population.

Strategy 1: Increase awareness and availability of information, resources and tools to improve older road user safety and mobility.

Strategy 2: Improve public policy to increase older road user safety and mobility.

18. Licensing
Objective— Improve the processes and procedures that will allow older road users to drive for as long as it is safe to do so.

Strategy 1: Review national licensing standards and practices, and make recommendations on the associated procedures and processes based on other state standards and best practices.

Strategy 2: Strengthen the assessment process to evaluate a driver’s ability to drive safely.

Strategy 3: Increase the knowledge of medical providers, law enforcement and licensing personnel on the recognition, assessment and reporting of older, at-risk drivers.

Objective— Ensure options are available for older road users once they transition from driving.
