3 Global Initiative for Asthma Management (GINA)
The assessment of asthma control should include control of clinical manifestations and control of expected future risk such as exacerbation, accelerated decline in lung function and side effects of treatment

4 GINA A. Assessment of current clinical control (preferably over the past 4 weeks) B. Assessment of future risk ( Risk of exacerbations, instability, rapid decline in lung function and side effects ): Features of increase risk of adverse event in the future : poor clinical control, frequent exacerbations in past years, ever admissions to critical care for asthma, low FEV1, exposure to cigarette smoke, high dose medications
