The battle of Verdun was the longest battle of World War I, from february to december of Germany’s plan was to “Bleed France white” by launching an attack on a narrow stretch of land (Verdun). The battle involved Germany’s 140,000 troops VS. France’s 30,000. After 11 months there were about 700,000 casualties. The terrain of this battle was in the forest, because of the large amount of artillery fire, the terrain was very rough and rugged. By december France had won the battle, there was not a great significance of this battle. But it was one of the worst battles of WWI .
