The characteristics of good leadership: Vision – guides the team to a clearly defined vision of the future Decision making – makes and implements good quality decisions Communication – ensures good 360˚ communication, is clearly understood and listens perceptively Action – personally responsible for making things happen

You set the tone Be clear, be positive, be fair Give feedback, support, credit and thanks Consult - but then make decisions – don’t delay or procrastinate Be around – get your hands dirty Be proactive Confront problems and problem people Don’t do it all yourself – delegate Encourage small mixed team projects Get the detail right Build on what you do best Establish a support network
