The Ode: It’s a long, lyric poem usually addressed to a particular person, place, or thing. It generally uses similes, metaphors, and imagery The Romantic poets like Wordsworth, Keats, and Shelley used this form of poetry. Pablo Neruda is a famous Latin American poet well-known for his odes. (We’ll read some of his work today.) Ode to a Fountain Pen: “Oh beloved pen of midnight black ink, How I love to roll you down my nose.”

3 The (English) Ode Glorifies and praises a person, place, or thing (it is positive!) ABABCDECDE scheme Iambic pentameter rhythm 10 lines!

4 For Your Ode (Due Friday!)
Pick one physical OBJECT to discuss……..1 simile (underline) Example: A necklace, sports equipment, your phone, etc. Must be at least 10 lines long
