The unit contains four tasks and the first task will be handed to you next week as Task 1 brief is currently being verified and will be handed to you next week.

5. AIMS OF SESSION
Understand what we mean by LONG HAUL and the types of aircraft used for long haul travel.
Locate continents and long haul destinations across the continents, identifying destination types in preparation for your first assignment.

6. What is a long haul destination?
For this unit a long haul destination is a destination with a flight time of more than 6 hours from the UK.
This excludes all European countries, North African countries and Asian countries bordering the Mediterranean

7. LONG HAUL AIRCRAFT
Long-haul flights are typically made by a wide- body aircraft, such as the Airbus A330, Airbus A340, Airbus A350, Airbus A380, Boeing 747, Boeing 767, Boeing 777 or Boeing 787.

Therefore, throughout this unit, we are referring to destinations across different continents (except Europe) and across the oceans.

13. GROUP ACTIVITY
Use the task sheet handed out and carry locate key destinations, areas and oceans on the map to familiarise yourself with long haul destinations.
You must use a key for this activity (and in your actual assignment work)
