3 What is self-esteem? Definition – The value you place on yourself. (how you feel about yourself.)

4 Hand out: Go over the characteristics of High Self Esteem and characteristics of Low Self Esteem.

PHYSIOLOGICAL NEEDS: Physical requirements for human survival. Air, water, food, breathing, shelter, sleep. SAFETY AND SECURITY NEEDS: Personal and Financial security Health and well-being Safety net against accidents/illness and their adverse impacts This level is more likely to be found in children because they generally have a greater need to feel safe.

7 Maslow’s Hierarchy Continued:
LOVE AND BELONGING NEEDS: Friendship Intimacy Family SELF-ESTEEM NEEDS: This may include a need for status, recognition, fame, prestige, and attention.  SELF ACTUALIZATION: This level of need refers to what a person's full potential is and the realization of that potential.

Give them hand out “Determining Your Core Values” Read through the scenario Add the picture of Royal Gorge Bridge in Canon City Colorado Need to work on your value statements (top 3) Place them in the shield (colored pencils/markers) Present to the class
