1 ARI Presentation I Pads and Head Phone use in the Preschool Classroom
Presented by Joyce L. Meadows

2 I wanted to add I pads to my classroom to enhance learning in counting and number recognition.  Children are so involved when playing on an I Pad I thought it would be a good way to enhance their math skills.   By using the I Pads the two children that I have focused on in this presentation has improved their counting skills and their number recognition.  The I Pads teach the children to work more independently and to find different ways to count and recognize their numbers.

3 Apps used with the I Pads
Mobymax.com Abcmouse.com

4 Apps that was used: AbCMouse. Com was tried because it is a very popular children educational app.  The children tried it and they did enjoy it but I found that it was hard to get any kind of data from.  The children received tickets when they completed a level, Mobymax.com is an app that is used by the school that the children can continue using as they go into the upper grades. With mobymax I can track their progress, it sets a percentage to be met then tells how much over or under they have come.

5 Using the I pads during free play.

7 Findings I use the Brigance when children enter into Head Start.  So I took the findings from the 4 Year Old Brigance and then did a Kindergarten Bragance.  This little girl could only count to ten and not recognize any of her numbers but one and 5.  Now she can count to 29 and she recognizes her numbers to 20.  She also can look at a number, recognize it, and count out the right amount of blocks.

8 Teaching Strategies Gold
From these results Rylyn had went up in levels in letter recognition and stayed the same in counting but after using the I Pads for a while her counting has gotten better too. I have seen a difference in her when it comes to math she will set and make up number games that lead to adding numbers together and its has a lot to do with what she has learne using the I Pads.

9 Over all the I Pads were a big hit in my classroom more from girls than from boys, which was surprising.  I will continue to use the I Pads to expand learning in my classroom.
