1 Coverage of Hikmat-Almasri Stadium
An-Najah National University Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology Department of Building Engineering Coverage of Hikmat-Almasri Stadium Prepared By: Aseel Darawsheh Aseel Sunjuq Reem Mhanna Supervisor: Eng. Abd-Alhakeem Aljawhari

2 Outline : Introduction Site Analysis Architectural Design
Structural Design Environmental Design Mechanical and Electrical Design Quantity Survey and Cost Estimate

3 Introduction : Objectives Project Problem
Increase the shaded area and protect the stadium from sunlight and rain. Preserve the architectural design of the University. Maintain the stadium as long as possible. Provide night lighting to hold a celebrations at night. Project Problem Establish a coverage for the Stadium. provides all the comfort factors.

4 Site Analysis : Located in new campus in An-Najah National University – Nablus The campus has area around 121 donums , and theater has area around 4.5 donums.

19 Material used in the coverage:
PTFE (Tensile membrane ) , thickness = Reflect 73% of the sun’s energy. Allowing 13% of (natural daylight). Allowing 7% of (solar heat) to transmit through. Thermal Transmittance = 0.25 W/ m2.K

20 Benefits of (PTFE) 25 years (life expectancy)
Resistance to long term exposure to the weather Resistant to chemicals 25 years (life expectancy) Fire Resistance High Reflectance

21 PTFE

22 Thermal Analysis Using Design Builder software:
Temperature doesn't exceed 25⁰C. Radiant Temperature = 35⁰C. Cooling Load = 20 kW.

23 From Design Builder software:

24 Using Hot air escape hall
Opening a part of the coverage to achieve good air circulation under the coverage. It is made to allow the air flow to carry the heat from the inside of the stadium to the outside. People will feel cool air circulation since hot air is flowing out while cool air comes in place. The opining is covered with the same material that is used to cover the whole stadium with a lift from the sides.

25

26

27 CFD Analysis Air flow : The air flow carry the heat from the inside of the stadium to the outside.

28 Natural Lighting PTFE material has a low light transparency factor with a value of 20 % and so the day lighting is low even though during the day. So we should focus on artificial lighting.

30 Structural Design:

31 Structural Design: Codes and Standards
ACI (American Concrete Institute). For reinforced concrete structural design. AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction). ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers). For load combinations.

32 Structural Design: Design Data Loads Concrete strength (f’c) = 28 MPa
Steel yield strength (Fy) = 420 MPa Steel strength in Tension(yielding)(fy) = 248 MPa Steel strength in Tension(fracture)(fu) = 400 MPa Steel strength in shear (fv) = 300 MPa Allowable bearing capacity for soil = 350 KN/m2 Live Load = 1.5 KN/m2 Snow Load = 1.8 KN/m2 SID = 1.5 KN/m2
