‘Availability’ - 1 ‘Availability’ is the central principle!
The most important thing to remember: To receive benefits, you must always be available to assume work! If you fail an availability assessment at MA, you risk loosing your benefits. Introduction to MA and unemployment insurance

‘Availability’ - 2 To remain ‘available’, you must:
Apply for multiple jobs every week, even during ‘activation’ and even if you are working part time while receiving ‘dagpenge’ on the side At least one of these must be for a solicited, full-time job in Denmark If necessary, go beyond your field of expertise if you have trouble finding employment. Consider applying for unsolicited positions or through network We use your job log at ma-kasse.dk to assess your availability. You must update your joblog every week, either at Jobnet.dk or ma-kasse.dk You must upload a minimum of 1 application every month Main focus must be on the Danish labour market Introduction to MA and unemployment insurance

‘Activation’ - 1 You can be ‘activated’ when:
Below 30 or above 50 years of age: (after 3 months at the latest) Between ages 30-49: (after 6 months at the latest) You have the right (and a duty!) to be activated at least once! Any more is up to you. Introduction to MA and unemployment insurance

‘Activation’ - 2 Types of ‘activation’:
Company internship Of a length of 4 to 8 weeks Subsidised employment – public sector (max. 4 months – available after 6 months of unemployment)(‘Løntilskudsjob’) Subsidised employment – private sector (max. 6 months – available after 6 months of unemployment)(‘Løntilskudsjob’) Individual guidance, workshops, courses etc. NB: Your Jobcenter will always focus on whatever can bring you closer to employment Introduction to MA and unemployment insurance

Fee and freelance You get a fee for a specific task – MA supplement with ”dagpenge”. Before you start: Fill in ‘AK045’ + send your contract await MA’s assesment of your position The gross fees wil be divided by 230,08 kr. per hour Eksample: You receive a fee of kr. You will be deducted (4.600 / 230,08) = 20 hours of your ”dagpenge”. You then will receive 17 hours of ”dagpenge”. 1 2 3 4 5 6 9 8 7 10 Startdato: 1. Looking for jobs within the EEA
You can receive unemployment benefits for 3 months while looking for work within the Euro zone. Conditions: Unemployed for at least 4 weeks before departure You must follow the local rules of the country in question Apply with the form PDU2 Learn more by reading ”jobsøgning i udlandet” at ma-kasse.dk. Pertains to all EU countries, plus a few others. Introduction to MA and unemployment insurance

Dagpenge – Unemployment Benefits
Conditions: Benefits for hours = 2 years Read about it: Resuming a new period of dagpenge (benefits) = 1924 hours of work (within 3 years)

Beskæftigelseskonto – Occupation Account
Hours of work while unemployed = Either a way to re-earn a new unemployment benefit period Or extension of your existing unemployment benefit period – 1 hour of work extend the period with 2 hours of benefits. Max. extension – 1 year.

Karens Unemployment benefits for four months =
Your benefits are reduced by an amount corresponding to s seven hours of unemployment benefits Unless you have had 148 hours of work during the period

Practical information
In case of illness: Notify your illness on the first day at Jobnet MA receives automaticcaly a notification from Jobnet Notify back to Jobnet as soon as you recover Holiday: Your holiday must be registered at Jobnet no later than 14 days before it starts If there is less than 14 days untill the start date of your holiday, contact your Jobcenter. A few final words… Remember: Still a ‘student’? Fill in form AK 044 at the self-service section at MA-kasse.dk Always check your mail from your Jobcenter via Jobnet.dk At least every 7 days you must see if your Jobcenter have any suggested jobs for you at Jobnet.dk Update your job log every week! And don’t forget to upload an application at least once every 4 weeks Fill in your ‘dagpengekort’ every month at ma-kasse.dk. Introduction to MA and unemployment insurance
