Drug addiction: is a chronic disease characterized by compulsive, or uncontrollable, drug seeking and use despite harmful consequences and changes in the brain, which can be long lasting.
Occurs because of the complex interaction of neurons, drugs, and individual behaviors
Many questions remain about the biological effects of addiction, such as why some individuals become addicted and others do not
