5 PT management for patella fractures treated conservatively
During the first 2 weeks Cast is inspected for breakages & trimmed above the malleoli. The limb is kept elevated to prevent edema. No knee ROM is allowed. SLR exercises with the cast, slab or immobilizer is allowed and held up to a count of 10. Isometric gluteal and isotonic ankle exercises are permitted. WB with crutches or walker is allowed after 24 hours

6 PT management for patella fractures treated conservatively
After 3-4 weeks The cast is removed after 3-4 weeks and a knee immobilizer is worn as a night splint. Active knee movements are commenced and slowly progressed to active assisted & PROM. Isometric & isotonic exercises of quads and hamstring are begun. Hip & ankle are continued. Full WB is allowed.

7 PT management for patella fractures treated surgically
During the first 2 weeks Wound inspection is done regularly and the sutures are removed after days. The limb is kept elevated to prevent edema. Initially a posterior splint, cast or knee immobilizer is used. Active knee movements are commenced if the fixation is stable. However no PROM are allowed. Isometric gluteal and isotonic ankle exercises are permitted. WB in a cast or immobilizer with crutches or walker is allowed

8 PT management for patella fractures treated surgically
After 2 weeks Knee movements are progressed from active flexion to active assisted and passive ROM exs. Isometric & isotonic quadriceps and hamstring exercises are begun. Hip & ankle exercises are continued Full WB is allowed after 4 to 6 weeks
