4. Invasion of Poland 1939 Hitler invades Poland
Vladek gets drafted into the war
Vladek is drafted and goes to fight the Germans When he leaves, Anja goes back to Sosniewec with Richieu and Janina .
1939 Hitler invades Poland with his troops and this marks the beginning of the second world war.

5. Elaborate Connection to Polish Invasion
At the beginning of the war, Hilter invades Poland. This event is significant in Vladek’s life because Vladek is drafted into the Polish army. He leaves and Anja goes back to Sosniewec with Richieu and Janina.
His life is drastically affected because he must leave his family and go to war. From Maus, we learn that he is taken as a prisoner of war and sent to a camp in the Reich (German invaded Poland). The camp is segregated into Jews and other prisoners, they receive little food and do not have heated cabins. He spends more than 2 months there before he volunteers to work in a German factory. After that he is liberated.
