1 Examine Jason’s Rhetoric and Behaviour with Medea

2 Quotes “You and I share many memories of love.”
Uses history to manipulate his feelings of morality since they have been together forever “Oh children! Will you all your lives long, stretch out your hands to me like this!” Shows kindness to children to create a moral image of herself that convinces Jason to forgive her “But women- are women; tears come naturally to us.” Pretends to believe in Jason’s ideals so that he can manipulate him

3 “Folly for folly. I give in. I was wrong just now; I admit.”
Repetition of folly and “I” emphasizes how she has come to believe in Jason’s ideas “I saw my foolishness; I saw how useless anger was.” In this quote, Medea is seen doing a 180 degree change on her stance toward Jason. Previously, she wanted to kill him, now her intelligence is shown in demonstrating her awareness. “I should have helped you in your plans, made it my pleasure to get ready your marriage-bed, attend your bride.” Once again follows Jason’s ideals about how women should serve men and sucks up to him
