Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. 5 in your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 who, being

in very nature god, did not consider equality with god something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 and being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! 9 therefore god exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth

Holy Spirit distinctive, believe in gifts in operation today
Relationship based discipleship focus
A renewed mind is key to harmony in relationships
Value God’s kingdom above our own agendas

6. Union With Christ Christ is working through us to renew our minds
Imitating Christ’s humility and honoring others
He empowers all fruitful relationships
Left to ourselves, we will mess relationships up
Invite Holy Spirit to help us into great and godly relationships

7. Put On the Mind of Christ
Be like minded, having the same spirit as Christ
People are different than us
Life would be pretty boring if everyone was like you!
Do everything without grumbling or arguing Phil 2:14
Church can be a scary place for people
Intentional about greeting them, finding out about them
How would Jesus treat this person? What would he initiate?

8. Imitate Christ’s Humility
Humility is a vital key to healthy relationships
Valuing others above yourself
Jesus went after those whom society rejected
Put on the attitude of Christ as we approach people
Proactive at trying to reach out to people
Dig deeper into what interests them
See from another’s perspective

9. Conclusion
Union with Christ is the foundation to healthy relationships
Putting on the mind of Christ, embracing the differences
Imitating Christ’s humility, putting others ahead of ourselves
