ELAN Network is an EU funded project
The ELAN Programme is a European Union (EU) initiative, launched in 2015, that consists of two interdependent projects: European and Latin American Business Services (ELAN Biz): whose main objective is to provide up-to-date and comprehensive information to European SMEs on how to do business in Latin America. European and Latin American Technology based Business Network (ELAN Network): whose main purpose is to generate technology-based business opportunities between European and Latin American SMEs.

OBJECTIVES of the ELAN Network
TBBO and Strategic alliances Create a network composed of intermediary organisations who share the mission of supporting companies in the generation of tech- based business opportunities. A sustainable network whose members work together and proactively to achieve its mission and generate socio-economic impact. Generate tech-based business opportunities (TBBO) between European and Latin American organisations, especially SMEs, as well as strategic alliances between EU and LAC intermediary organisations with a multiplier effect. TBBO = Business + Recent tech innovation EU – LAC partnership Create a network that brings together R & D ecosystem actors from LAC and the EU, for bringing in collaboration the results of applied research to the market, through the promotion of co-generation of TBBOs between EU and LAC SMEs and multiplier alliances.

1. NETWORK - What type of network is ELAN Network?
A Triple Helix network composed of intermediary organisations that support SMEs in the development of TBBOs between EU and LAC. Knowledge and technology based organisations (KTBO) with an ability and interest in identifying the best ideas, in order to transform them into business. Business support organisations (BSO) that work with SMEs in various different domains: innovation, internationalisation, competitiveness, entrepreneurship... Public sector actors, drivers of the innovation ecosystem in their territories and owners of programmes and policies that support the generation of business opportunities.

2. TBBO and Strategic alliances
What collaborations do we want to generate? Some examples: TBBOs Joint implementation of Spanish IT product in LAC serving as a pilot for future projects. Joint project to analyse the need for technological services in LAC. Collaboration agreement in Health sector, where European company provides hardware technology, and the Latin American company performs tests locally for its certification. Implementation of European R&D in artificial intelligence in the development of new products in Latin America. Collaboration in deep learning, industry 4.0, health, biotechnology, where Latin American company is interested in investing in European SME. Distribution of RFID devices in Latin America. Strategic alliances Technological collaboration in waste management between 2 RTOs. Partnerships between RTO + cluster + companies and Latin American counterpart for joint research projects. Partners for European Strategic Cluster Partnership in two or more Latin American countries. Partnership to associate European and Latin American companies interested in circular economy, with support of respective public administrations (PPP format). Alliance to provide H2020 support services to companies in Latin America. Joint activity planning between various ELAN Network members and European Strategic Cluster Partnerships.

A Network where every event generates opportunities.

Events in Latin America
Events are generally 2-3 days long and are very dynamic and participative. Co-creation sessions to generate business opportunities, identifying synergies based on the strengths of the participating companies (including from various sectors). Presentations of technological solutions to groups of companies with previously identified common needs. Technology investment forums. Technology Brokerage: explore innovations in combining existing technologies developed for other sectors. Sessions where business opportunity promoters present their ideas looking for partners and funds to complete their development. Training sessions and thematic workshops on relevant aspects of technology transfer to other countries.
