Safe Grad Parent Committee
Who are we? A group of grad parent volunteers responsible for the planning and execution of the parent responsible portion of Safe Grad READ THE SLIDE

Safe Grad – Rules Grads and their guests are not allowed to drive
No one under the age of 18 is allowed to purchase, possess or consume alcohol SAFE GRAD MANITOBA IS AN ORGANIZATION GOVERNED By THE MANITOBA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL TRUSTEES SCHOOLS AND PARENT COMMITTEES APPLY TO HOLD A SAFE GRAD. THEY MUST UPHOLD THE SAFE GRAD RULES IN ORDER TO BE COVERED BY MAST LIABILITY INSURANCE. READ SLIDE

Designated Driver Forms
Designated Driver forms will go out two months prior to Grad All parent and designated drivers will be contacted to confirm information THE WAY TO ENSURE ALL GRADS DON’T DRIVE, IS HAVE THEM ARRANGE FOR A DESIGNATED DRIVER. READ SLIDE

Committee Chair Responsibilities

Safe Grad Committee Chair
Oversee all activities of a successful Safe Grad event. Be an active member on all sub-committees & assist committees when required. Liaise between parents, staff and student grad reps. Hold parent information meetings, provide information to MMC website, meet with school administration. Complete Safe Grad Manitoba liability insurance forms. Maintain a master list of all Safe Grad Volunteers and distribute update to committee members. Compile a budget for costs for all-night Safe Grad, with MMC staff liaison.

Volunteer Coordinator Chair
Compile & maintain a master list of volunteers for all Safe Grad Committees. Distribute lists to committee chairs and update as required. Be in attendance 4:30pm to 5:00am the day of Safe Grad to man volunteer check-in table. Periodically report to the Chairperson.

Security Chair Coordinate and facilitate a training session with security volunteers. Coordinate volunteers to provide security in Banquet & Meeting Rooms, washrooms, indoor pedestrian corridor and courtyard TYC Event Centre and outdoor smoking areas at CanadInns Polo Park. Coordinate security efforts with security staff at TYC. Be in attendance 4:30pm to 5:00am the day of the Safe Grad to coordinate security efforts. Periodically reporting to the Chairperson.

Ticket Sales/Check-in Chair
Coordinate & facilitate volunteer check-in training session. Coordinate volunteers to assist in the distribution of tickets & collection of money with school during ticket sales in June. Compile master check-in list, using school database, of Safe Grad attendees. Coordinate check-in table volunteers at Safe Grad. Confirm attendees against guest list. Coordinate volunteers to check ID for attendees over 18 years old and distribute wrist bands. Be in attendance 4:30pm to 10:00pm the day of the Safe Grad to coordinate ticket sales efforts. Periodically report to the Chairperson.

Phone Chair Compile the completed designated driver forms.
Coordinate and facilitate a training session with phone volunteers. Have volunteers contact all Designated Drivers & confirm arrangements for drop-off and pick-up. Ensure DD contact information is current and correct. Periodically report to the Chairperson.

Medical Chair Coordinate and facilitate a training session with medical volunteers. Ensure a medical kit is stocked and available. Provide minor medical care at the event. Periodically report to the Chairperson.

Baggage Chair Coordinate volunteers to collect and secure clothing bags during Safe Grad. Be in attendance 4:30pm to 5:00am the day of the Safe Grad to coordinate baggage efforts. Periodically report to the Chairperson.

Sign-out Chair Coordinate and facilitate a training session with sign- out volunteers. Coordinate volunteers at Safe Grad to have Designated Drivers sign-out student and guests when leaving Safe Grad. Periodically report to the Chairperson.

Fun Casino Chair Consult with Ms. Beebe regarding the arrangements for the casino supply company and assisting if necessary. Contact and schedule dealers. Tear-down at the end of the night. Assist with silent auction co-ordination and signage.

It is common for to volunteer for more than one committee.
