Word 2013 Lesson 2 Basic Editing Vocabulary

2 Clipboard: A storage area that temporarily stores the items for a user to paste in another location of the document or office file. Can only hold 24 items.

3 Copy: A command in Word that places a duplicate copy of selected text in the Clipboard.

4 Cut: A command in Word that removes selected text from the original location and place the deleted text in the Clipboard collection.

5 Document Properties Hidden information such as personal data is added to the document, such as, creator of the document, company name, and keywords.

6 Go To: A command in the scroll box that enables users to browse by field, endnote, footnote, comment, section, page, edits, headings, graphics, or tables.

7 Gridlines: A tool that provides a grid of vertical and horizontal lines that help you align graphics and other objects in a document.

8 Multi-selection: A Word feature that enables users to select multiple items of the text that are not adjacent.

9 Navigation Pane: A tool that appears in the left side of the window when you select its command in the Show command group.

10 Object Zoom: A function that allows a user to zoom in on objects such as tables, charts, or images while in Read Mode.

11 Paste: A command that pastes text from the Clipboard to a new location in the original document or new document.

12 Read Mode: Changes the page layout of the document and hides the ribbons. Some editing tools are available.

13 Replace: A command that enables users to replace one word or phrase with another.

14 Rulers: Measuring tools to align text, graphics and other elements used within a document.

15 A tool that allows the user to move up or down within the document.
Scroll Bars: A tool that allows the user to move up or down within the document.

16 Scroll Box: A tool that allows users to move horizontally and vertically through a document more quickly than the scroll buttons or to see a ScreenTip displaying a user’s position in the document.

17 Scroll Buttons: a tool that allows user to move up or down one line at a time, or more quickly if users click and hold the button.

Thumbnails: Tiny images of the document pages.

19 Wildcard: Characters to find words or phrases that contain specific letters or combination of letters. * is used to replace multiple letters. m*t will give you words like mat, moment, mutt… ? Is used to replace single letter. B?t will give you words like but, bit, bat…
