1 DATA PRESENTATION AND ANALYSIS

2 This is when you use your collected data/photos/secondary data to answer your key questions (same as the ones in your table in Setting the Scene) The key questions can be answered in any order but must form a heading of that section of data presentation and analysis They have presented their data in a wide range of appropriate maps, graphs and diagrams. They have used their knowledge and understanding to describe and explain their evidence in a consistently detailed way.

3 DATA PRESENTATION Presenting information by various techniques : graphs, diagrams, photos, labelled maps, articles DATA ANALYSIS Describing and explaining your graphs, diagrams, photos, labelled maps, articles

4 Possible techniques to answer your key questions
Sea wall height survey and analysis Field sketch - annotated Quality of sea wall survey and analysis Measurement of sediment along slipways and analysis Natural areas at La Mielle de Morville and St Ouen’s Pond (Wetland Centre visit) and analysis Photographs - annotated Information from secondary sources – articles from States of Jersey etc (many in shared area) Research from internet (save websites for inclusion in bibliography) Any other methods you used to collect information/data

5 Has the geology of the wave-cut platforms affected the strength of the waves and hence the need to defend the St Ouen’s Bay coastal area? Located bar graph map of height of sea wall Analysis of the map to include DESCRIPTION (where is the sea wall high/lower) and EXPLANATION of results – why is the sea wall higher/lower in some areas. Link this to the geology of the wave-cut platforms and strength of the waves Annotated photographs of wave-cut platform or open parts of the bay Any other suitable technique which you think helps answer the question

6 Photographic annotated evidence of sea wall giving specific location
Is the quality of the sea wall a reflection of the energy of the waves influenced by the geology of the wave-cut platforms? Located map or any diagram technique which shows the quality of the sea wall survey at the 7 locations. Think of symbols to represent ‘signs of recent repairs’ and ‘evidence of toe armour’. Analysis of results to include DESCRIPTION and EXPLANATION and link to geology of the bay and how it has affected energy of the waves. Photographic annotated evidence of sea wall giving specific location

7 Has geology influenced the waves and movement of eroded material by longshore drift?
Measurement of height of sediment along slipways. Graphs, possibly hand drawn, to show sediment on north side and south side of the three slipways that were measured. Map to show the location of the slipways. DESCRIPTION of each graph at the three locations. EXPLANATION of why the sediment collects on a particular side (north or south) of EACH slipway (include key words like fetch, wave energy, wave-cut platform) Overall conclusion to longshore drift in the Bay Any photographic evidence of sediment along slipways

8 Describe how geology has influenced these areas
How has geology influenced the natural feature landforms in the natural areas of St Ouen’s Bay? Map to show location of natural areas (La Mielle de Morville and St Ouen’s Pond) Describe how geology has influenced these areas Graphs to show the natural areas survey – linked to geology/natural areas/human geography Analysis of the graphs Photographic evidence of the natural areas

9 What are the distinctive coastal landforms in the Bay?
This will be mainly descriptive Location map Jersey/UK, Jersey showing St Ouen location, detail St Ouen’s Bay, annotated map of physical features How are these features formed? Strong waves , fetch Photographic evidence from books/own
