Participation level 67,356 low-income older Americans received paid employment and training opportunities 46% entered unsubsidized employment after exiting the program Provided more than 35.3 million community service hours to 30,000 local public and nonprofit agencies valued at $815 million (using Independent Sector’s estimated value of a volunteer hour) Demographic characteristics of SCSEP participants 88% less than 100% of federal poverty guidelines 70% age at enrollment 65% women 64% HS and 1-2 years of college 48% were from a racial or ethnic minority (Hispanic, Latino or Spanish) 22% failed to find employment after using WIA title I 13% were veterans or qualified spouses 10% had limited English proficiency
