2 Task Group on Preservation of and Open Access to Scientific and Technical Data in/for/with Developing Countries (PASTD) , was approved by the CODATA 23rd General Assembly in Montréal 2002. The objectives : Promote strategy, policy and institutional guidelines for implementation of open data principles in developing countries, especially in low and middle income countries (LMIC). Provide an interdisciplinary forum for enhancing capacity building and sharing best practice in developing countries; Advance data publishing in developing countries; Enhance data re-use and repositories in support of sustainable development;

3 CODATA-PASTD The Task has 27 members from 14 countries; Co-chairs:
Prof Xiang Zhou, RADI, CAS. Prof. Mabel Imbuga, Vice-Chancellor JKUAT, Kenya Dr. Dora Canhos, Director, CRIA, BRAZIL Secretariat: Prof. Chuang Liu, IGSNRR,CAS Sub-group 1: Strategy and Policy, Sub-group 2: Capacity Building, Sub-Group 3: Data Publishing and sharing, and Sub-group 4: CODATA-WDS Joint Sub-group. Over the past decade, the CODATA PASTD Task Group has focused on promoting and enhancing the worldwide cooperation in ICTs and research data and in developing open knowledge environments for international science and sustainability in developing countries. Several international workshops and training sessions toward these goals have been held in many areas of the developing world, including in Brazil, South Africa, China, Mongolia, Cuba and Kenya, and included many participants from these countries.

5 Training courses International Training Workshops: Mongolia (Ulaanbaatar, 2009, 2011), North Korea (2010, Beijing), 14 Developing Countries (2012, Beijing), Open Data Exhibition (WGISS/CEOS, CODATA, 2009, Beijing Training Course of the International Workshop on Open Data for Science and Sustainability in Developing Countries (OpenDataSSDC) 4-5 August 2014.

6 Awards The 2008 CODATA Prize was awarded to Liu Chuang,
Ex Co-chair of PASTD For her contribution to the development of significant new scientific data products and services. CODATA Prize 2010: Paul Uhlir Experienced Member of PASTD his emphasis is on issues at the interface of science, technology, and law, with primary focus on digital data and information policy and management.  Knowledge Management Leadership Award 2016 : Daisy  Selematsela by the World Education Congress & Global Knowledge Management Congress in Mumbai (INDIA) on the 23 June 2016. She was one of the eight global recipients.

7 Outputs Nairobi Guidelines Linchao geo-museum http://www.geomuseum.cn
Nairobi Guideline for Implementation of Open Data Principle in Developing Countries, white paper, will continue to focus on Open Data in A Big Data World. Linchao geo-museum More than two hundreds contributors all over the world donated More than 40,000 post stamps to the museum. International Scientific Cooperation Program Halls (1st IPY, 2ND IPY done, IGY on the way, 4th IPY in preparing), Satellites Hall ( done).

8 Outputs Global Change Research Data Publishing and Repository ( (in DOI: ) From 2014, there are 100 global change research datasets in 5 issues contributed by over 170 researchers were published. workshop on data publishing and academic journals held on 10 March 2016.
