1. Subatomic Particles The Particles that Make up atoms

Smallest particles of an element that have the properties of that element. Made of subatomic particles.
Examples: Water is made of three atoms.

An uncharged group of atoms that are held together by a covalent bond.

Structures inside of cells that carry out specific functions.
Examples: Ribosome – Makes proteins

5. Cells
Smallest basic unit of structure and function in living things that show the characteristics of life.
Examples: Skin cells, Bacteria, muscle cells
Will make up single celled organisms

6. Tissue
Groups of cells that are near each other and help perform a similar function. Usually form an organ.
Examples: Skin Tissue, Liver Tissue, leaf Tissue

7. Organ Groups of Tissues that work together for a particular function.
Examples: Liver, Kidney, Eye, Heart

8. Organ System
A group of organs that work together to perform a specific function
Example: Respiratory system, Urinary system, Endocrine system, cardiovascular system

9. Multicellular Organism
Organism made of many cells, Tissues, organs, and organ systems.
Example: Humans, Birds, plants
Anything from Kingdom: Animalia, plantae, Fungi

10. Species
A group of organisms that are structurally similar and can mate and produce offspring that are also structurally similar.
Examples: Humans, mountain Lions, E.coli Bacteria

11. Population
Group of the same species living in close proximity to each other.
Example: People living in a city, Bullfrogs in a pond, Bats living in a bat house…. Ect…

12. Community
All of the populations of different organisms living in a certain area
Example: All of the organisms in a pond.

13. Ecosystem
A community and the physical environment that it occupies (All living and non Living components
Example: The rainforest, The Tundra, Mountains, Deserts
