10TH LX Navigation Cup and Alföld CUP
1st Day 30 Apr 2017

Runway in use for today:
Today we will use Runways 34/36 34 36 Do try to get your glider in place at the appropriate time. It’ll save hastle later in the day. Beware grid time is 11:45 and first take off is 12:00 !!
3
Take offs: Please, please, please, do not wait for the last minute to close your canopies. When the gliders are in place, we will push them backwards, to use the maximum runway length. You must be ready when it is your turn to take off. This is not the right time to make last checks, and your crew must be ready to hook the glider and run the wing. After the take off, please have someone pick up the gear of the glider (wingwheel, trolley and so on), and move them sideways and back, out of the way. Important : all cars must be left way out of the starting zone, and certainly not in front of the gliders, especially when using 18.
4
Towing: Towing : The tow planes will do their best to put you in a thermal, but if you hit one (thermal, not the tow plane !), please release before the 600m altitude, to improve the towing rate. The tow pilots have been told NOT to make their personal competition !! I insist, it is NOT their competition. Relights : If you need a relight, please radio your need in advance on the competition frequency, and land on the runway which is not in use for the take-off.
5
Arrival procedure: Radio your competition number 10 kilometers out, on MHz. The center of the finish ring (3 kilometers radius) is over the centre of the airfield. You are required to enter the finish cylinder above 380m QNH (the day QNH will be published on the task sheet). Remember „ingyensör” and „Zastonj pivo”. Respect, and follow, the recommendations of the marshal on the radio.
6
Landings: Normal landings (direct or over flight, joining the runway in use, landing pattern west of the runway) will be on both runways (34/36). If there are several gliders landing at the same time, then please make a long landing, a really long-long one, to the very end of the runway, and wait for the others to land as well, before towing your glider back to its parking place. After landing, you are always required to pull your glider out of the runway. Pilots should help one another moving the gliders off the runway. In case the main runway is totally busy, the secondary runway (36) is then available.
7
Runway in use for landing:
Today we will use Runways 34/36 for the landings. 34 36 Do try to get your glider in place at the appropriate time. It’ll save hastle later in the day.
8
Emergency landings: (in case of engine failure or cable break)
To the north, there is an emergency landable strip (200m) north of the airfield, north-east of runway 18/36. landable area landable area
9
Emergency landings: (in case of engine failure or cable break)
To the south, there is another green area, between the railway and the industrial plant. The area between the plant and the south of the airfield is absolutely un-landable. un-landable area landable area
10
Szeged airport and airspace:
Within a 5 km radius from the airport, if you are under 800m QNH, call them on 122.8, and remember . If you ever have to land there, remember, you made an emergency landing for safety reasons…
11
Safety: Take offs : please use your wheelbrake to get the tow rope taut, otherwise you may roll over it, it will release and delay the take off ! At the start of the roll, do not push the stick fully forward, it’s the best way to lose direction control…
