OGC CDB Standard Status
The OGC membership approved CDB as an OGC standard 19 October 2016 The OGC CDB standard is based on and derived from the industry developed and maintained specification. Document integration into the OGC public document and schema repositories is in work. What’s the same? The technical content is essentially CDB V3.2 Update 1 What’s different? We killed the name and kept the initials; Reformatted into 12 volumes and a schema/metadata repository Created a CDB Conceptual Model (!) Aligned terminology with GIS / ISO wherever possible Copyright © 2016 Open Geospatial Consortium

OGC CDB 1.0 OGC Standard: 3 volumes and a schema
and 9 volumes of Best Practices documents Some of the material that you would have expected to be in the ‘normative’ standards documents is in ‘optional’ Best Practices Documents Copyright © 2017 Open Geospatial Consortium

OGC CDB SWG Work-in-Progress …all intended to increase interoperability
Feature Data Dictionary; NAS/DGIWG Profiles Metadata (ISO; DDMS 5.0) MultiSpectral IR Extension Geopackage interoperability CityGML interoperability More software; less words Restful API to OGC CDB 1.0 OGC CDB 1.0 Compliance Test suite Public “call for change requests” CRP cutoff for CDB 2.0 likely to be ~December 2017 OGC Testbed 13 Copyright © 2017 Open Geospatial Consortium

OGC CDB standard organization update
Anyone can submit a Change Request Proposal at any time OGC CDB 1.1….1.n; backwards compatible Minor revisions; extensions; profiles The view so far: Multi-spectral IR extension Feature Data Dictionary revision Metadata / Codelists / structured vocabularies OGC CDB 2.0; major revision; not necessarily backwards compatible Public ‘call for change requests’ sometime this summer Likely cutoff date for inclusion of CRPs for consideration in 2.0 December 2017; after Testbed 13 concludes and ER’s approved. Further testbeds; other experimentation; new technical development Copyright © 2017 Open Geospatial Consortium

Testbed 13 Themes Testbed 13 is organized into threads, which integrate both architectural and thematic views and allow grouping of closely related work items & reduction of cross-thread dependencies. Cross Community Interoperability (CCI) Dynamic Source Integration (DSI) Earth Observation Clouds (EOC) Field Operations (FO) Streaming & 3D Data (S3D) Compliance Testing (COT) Copyright © 2016 Open Geospatial Consortium
