You can help THEM shape Canada’s future! Inspire students to take the Challenge! Allow them to explore Canada. Encourage them to be part of a signature Canada 150 youth event!

3 What is 150&Me?

4 A Canada 150 Signature Initiative – Canada 150&ME is a national youth contest involving thousands of young Canadians. It’s a unique opportunity for youth, schools, teachers, youth groups and communities to celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday! It’s four unforgettable week-long travel exchanges in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Montreal and Halifax. A national forum of 150 youth will be held in Ottawa the week before Canada Day 2017.

6 It’s a meaningful way to mark Canada’s 150th milestone.
It will empower youth to play a leadership role in a conversation about the future they want for Canada. It increases youth engagement with local community issues and organizations. The program aligns to curriculum objectives across a broad range of subject issues.

7 Over 300 youth will have the opportunity to travel (free
Over 300 youth will have the opportunity to travel (free!) and explore Canada in ways they never imagined. 100s more will host travelling youth and share in discovering their communities through a fresh perspective 1000s more will get connected to the conversation online or onsite by participating in a series of youth forums held across the country.

8 What will participants do?

9 150 Participants will be billeted in 1 of 4 cities with families of a local youth who will also share the week of activities that include team building, mentorships, community service, historical tours and exciting outdoor adventures. Local schools will be invited to join the participants in a one-day regional forum to discuss issues youth have highlighted as their priorities: human rights and economic security; diversity and immigration; environment and sustainable development; and Canada’s place in the world. Thousands more youth will participate in the regional forums on- line.

10 A new leadership group of 150 youth will be chosen from among those involved in the regional forums to travel to Ottawa, June 26 to July 3, 2017, to present their ideas to government and business leaders and be a part of making Canada Day 2017 happen!

11 How it works!

12 Youth first register their interest.
Then they answer this question: What is the Canada’s greatest challenge or opportunity facing your generation? Open to all youth aged to compose their answer in any form they choose… write, draw, produce, perform, create! They can submit their project online as text, audio, photo or video files, whatever represents their work best.

Multiple panels of three judges will select winning submissions! Winners will be announced in the Spring 2017. Youth can register today at

19 Teacher Resources

20 Teacher and group leader resources make it easy to participate.
Lesson plans, curriculum correlations, project samples and ideas for activities make planning easy. Tutorial videos provide ‘how to’ tips and suggestions and answer common questions about the project.

22 Celebrate Canada’s history, geography, art, culture, literature and research through the eyes of their own generation Apply differentiated activities or full lessons to any course curriculum Use provided student prompts to facilitate student thinking Incorporate experiential learning Give opportunities to reflect on learning and make connections to prior knowledge, cultivating a growth mindset

24 Teacher Toolkit: a detailed overview of the program and how to use the variety of resources to amplify student learning Course Listing and Sample Activities: an organization by province/territory and course type which will help you integrate Canada 150 celebrations in your standard curriculum How-to Videos: short clips geared towards educators to guide the use of online resources and answer quick questions about the appliction

25 Canada 150&Me Ambassadors

26 There are other ways to get involved!
Canada 150&Me needs Ambassadors aged to chaperone participants and help make Canada 150&Me happen. Get paid to travel to 3 regions across Canada and document our series of youth exchanges culminating in an unforgettable week in Ottawa, June 26-July 3, Travel expenses will be paid and Ambassadors will receive a $2000 honorarium. Ambassador training takes place in Ottawa February Application deadline is December 1, 2016.
