Gospel: the Power of Salvation
- All men sin and are cut off from God - Justification is peace with God by death of enmity - Death at the cross is accessed in baptism - Baptism releases us from slavery - Jesus death was the ONLY way for a new covenant What is the cause of sin?
5
Law is NOT the Cause Blaming law for sin is incorrect - The law is GOOD - It revealed death Imagine going to a doctor and he finds you are dying. Is it the doctor’s fault?

Serving the Flesh Flesh: the physical nature 1 Corinthians 2:12 – 3:3 Flesh: Natural, carnal, unspiritual, worldly Man’s place in the natural world is by flesh 2 Peter 2:12 Jude 10 2Pe 2:12 But these, like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, reviling where they have no knowledge, will in the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed, Jude 1:10 But these men revile the things which they do not understand; and the things which they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed.

Serving the Flesh James 1:13-15 Flesh is NOT beyond our control Its desires are sinful INSOFAR as they are without reason or understanding Jas 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.
8
Flesh: ONE Cause of Sin For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world John 2:16 2Pe 2:12 But these, like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, reviling where they have no knowledge, will in the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed, Jude 1:10 But these men revile the things which they do not understand; and the things which they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed.

Marriage is a covenant – Malachi 2:14 It has a law – Ephesians 5:23-33, 1 Cor. 7:2-5 It has a promise – Matthew 19:5 As a covenant it is until death – Romans 7:2 Breaking it has consequences – Romans 7:3

Galatians 3:17-19 Subsequent covenants CANNOT invalidate a previously instituted covenant Covenant of Adam Covenant of Noah Covenant of Abraham Covenant of Moses Covenant of Phinehas Covenant of David Covenant of Christ Ga 3:17 What I am saying is this: the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise. 18 For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise. 19 Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made.

Why Jesus Died Covenant of Adam (Man) 1 Corinthians 15:45
Covenant of Noah (Blood) Covenant of Abraham (Blessings) Covenant of Moses (Prophet) Covenant of Phinehas (High Priest) Covenant of David (King) Covenant of Christ 1 Corinthians 15:45 So also it is written, "The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING SOUL." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 1Co 15:45 So also it is written, "The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING SOUL." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47 The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. 48 As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly. 50 Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
