Why Jesus Disappoints Many
John 6:15, 24-26, 66

John 6:15, 24-26 15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. 24 the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus 25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? 26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled 66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Those Who Seek Jesus for the Wrong Reason are Disappointed!
Introduction Jesus did not come to please & pacify men Cf. Galatians 1:10 Jesus came to seek & save the lost Luke 19:10; John 3:16 Many were not please with Jesus during His personal ministry Some wanted an earthly king John 6:15; 18:36 Some wanted physical food John 6:26-37, 53-66 Those Who Seek Jesus for the Wrong Reason are Disappointed!

Some Reasons Why Many Are Disappoint With Jesus

Jesus is Not Anyone's Personal Pawn John 12:2-6; James 4:3
Many seek Christ for “pernicious ways”. 2 Peter 2:3 – “…by reason of whom the way if truth shall be spoken evil”. Many seek Christ for socializing & enjoyment Love constant attention See the church as a club or social organization For some it is like an insurance policy Don’t really want it, but have it if just in case they need it Are You Seeking the Spiritual or the Physical?

Jesus Came To Man With Purpose!!! Matthew 11:28-30
Many expect Jesus to come into there heart but on their condition. Man must come to Jesus through obedience to the Gospel Saul (Paul) told to arise & be baptized - Acts 22:16 Jesus set various conditions in coming to Him Luke 14:26; John 5:40, 6:44 Coming to Jesus involves… Answering His universal invitation - Matthew 11:28-30 Action - Must “take my yoke” Matt. 11:29; 1 Timothy 2:3-5 Have You Come To Jesus?

Many Expect Earthly Equity Luke 12:13-15
Jesus did not promise His disciples fair treatment 1 Corinthians 6:7-8 He taught them they would be miss-treated Matthew 10:16-23; 1 Peter 2:20 Warned that poverty would always be present John 12:8 We must be willing to serve Christ, come what may Acts 9:16; Philippians 1:29; 1 Peter 2:20; 3:14, 17 Are You Willing to Suffer for Righteousness Sake?

Jesus Will Not Set Up a Earthly Utopia John 16:33; 1 John 5:4
He did not promise to solve all of our earthly problems There will be no temptation free life - 1 Corinthians 10:13 There will be no problem-free church - 1 Corinthians 11:19 There will be persecutions - Matt. 5:10-12; 2 Timothy 3:12 He does promise support - Hebrews 4:15-16 Did not remove Paul’s “thorn in the flesh” but supplied grace 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 He will not remove trouble but will go with us through it Roman 8:35-39 Are you seeking Jesus during troubling times?

Many Desire No Limits on Fellowship Matthew 7:13, 14
The Lord’s way is narrow and excludes all man’s doctrines 2 John 9 Roman 16:17, 18 1 Timothy 1:3; 6:3 The Lord’s way will embrace all of every nation who render obedience to His Word Acts 10:34, 35 Are You Willing to Abide in His doctrine Only?

Conclusion Jesus will disappoint those who try to come on their own terms Jesus will NOT disappoint if surrender to His terms Luke 11:28; John 13:17; Luke 22:42, 43 Jesus will NOT disappoint those who trust in His promises If you obey the gospel, your sins will be washed away If you continue in faithful service, you will receive the crown If you seek the kingdom first, you will receive life’s necessities If you walk in the light you will be cleansed of your sins when you confess your sins
