Trend Lines MGSE8.SP.2 EQ: What is a trend line?
How do I make a trend line? What can I do with a trend line?
2
Trend Line or Line of Best Fit:
A line that goes through the MIDDLE of the points on a scatterplot with ABOUT the same number of points above and below it.
3
Q: How do you use a scatterplot to make predictions?
A: Draw a trend line (Line of Best Fit) with ABOUT the same number of points above and below.

A: Draw a Fake Line, THRU the MIDDLE of the data points!!!
Q: How do I draw a Line of Best Fit? A: Draw a Fake Line, THRU the MIDDLE of the data points!!! Q: How do I know where the best place to draw a Line of Best Fit?

A: You have some options:
Find two points on the graph that if connected, go through the middle. Find a point on the y-axis & another point out in the data that if connected, go through the middle. Don’t use any points, follow your own path, draw a line through the middle of the data.

Let’s do some:
7
Draw a Trend Line and Write a Linear Equation to represent the Line of Best Fit.
Use the equation to predict the output when x=20. Use the equation to predict the input when y=50.
